Religious Education

Religious Education

The parish is the center of faith formation for Catholics. Every person in your pews, every Catholic in your parish community…child or adult…is on their own journey toward Christ and a life of discipleship.

Vision Statement:

Religious Education at St. Vincent de Paul is dedicated to inspiring a thorough knowledge of God and the witness of Christian love. Our vision is to build an understanding of the basic beliefs of our Roman Catholic faith and encourage our children to carry those beliefs out into the world.

Philosophy:

We recognize and support that parents hold the primary responsibility for their children's religious formation. St. Vincent de Paul's Religious Education program will creatively assist in this obligation. We encourage parents to be strong role models with a lived faith commitment and meaningful prayer life. As a dedicated faith community, the St. Vincent de Paul Religious Program is committed to providing quality lifelong education for all members of our parish. As a community of faith, inspired by the Gospel message, we will integrate the experience of community, worship and social justice into the total educational experience of our students, their parents and parishioners. By Baptism, we are called to be faithful to the mission of Jesus. We teach God’s redeeming love for us, the fullness of revelation in Jesus Christ, and the presence of the Holy Spirit. Through religious education, we will strive to develop a deep understanding of prayer and worship and its relevance in our lives. In the spirit of our patron, we will witness to and serve the needs of those in need. The entire St. Vincent de Paul Community is encouraged to participate in the faith development of our youth and adults. By assisting parents in this education we hope to lead the children to a life “planted and built up in Jesus Christ, firm in the faith”. (Col 2:7)

Message from the Director:

The Law of Love

Once, while Jesus was teaching, someone asked him which commandment was the greatest. Jesus replied: “You shall love the Lord, your God with all your heart, with all you soul, and with all your mind. This is the greatest and the first commandment. The second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”  Matthew 22:37-39

When we live the Law of Love, we know we are doing what God wants us to do. This is how we follow Jesus each day of our lives.
